Sid's News Letter - 18th September
Dear Parents and Carers
We have had a really good week and a continued positive start back to our school year.
Our pupils have settled into their small class groups and they are enjoying the opportunity to move to spend time with our different teachers for some lessons.
This week, everyone has designed their own uniform. As part of this, they have made tie-dyed t-shirts, although they may not form a part of an official uniform! They are absolutely lovely – see photos below.
Our outdoor learning teacher has begun to work with each class now and the outside classroom down in the woods, is taking shape. There’s a wood store and there will soon be some shelters and dens – all built by the students themselves.
Next week, we start to decorate the ‘Belsteads Café’. The students have designed a beach café theme. Watch this space – they will be painting it themselves. :)
More news next week.
Have a lovely weekend. Erica Barnett and the whole Belsteads team!

Sid Barnett – School Nurture Dog
Sid has settled very well into Belsteads life. He spends his days mostly relaxing and enjoying lots of fuss from the whole school community. He loves being out on the field but isn’t quite so keen on the giant sandpit!
Developing new skills

We encourage all of our pupils to share their interests and we support them to develop new skills. One pupil has an interest in costume design. Just look at the base for a fox head! We have an expert seamstress coming in next to teach us
how to use a sewing machine and how to sew fur fabric. Watch this space!
Breakfast Club
We now start our mornings with a breakfast club. There are also activities such as netball or exercise outside, reading in the common room or a relaxing start in the sensory garden with friends. It is a lovely way to begin a day here at Belsteads.

Each week we will include some of the amazing things that we do here. We are aiming high for academic achievement for all of our pupils but we also want them to learn life skills and to develop a broad range of experiences and knowledge of the world around us.
We are excited to come to school every day! :)
